DESCRIPTION Dow Corning Class VI Elastomers (C6-235, C6-250, C6-265) are a series of one-part uncatalyzed silicone elastomer raw materials. The addition of a catalyst is necessary to accomplish cure. The resulting elastomers range in hardness from soft to firm (nominally 35 to 65, shore A durometer). These materials may be blended if desired to achieve intermediate hardnesses. After appropriate compounding with a catalyst, cure and post-cure, the elastomers are heat stable up to 204°C (400°F), can be autoclaved, and exhibit high gas permeability compared with most thermoset elastomers and thermoplastics. The mechanical properties of Tenite™ cellulosic plastics differ with plasticizer levels. Lower plasticizer content yields a harder surface, higher heat resistance, greater rigidity, higher tensile strength, and better dimensional stability. Higher plasticizer content increases impact strength. Tenite™ cellulosic plastics are available in natural, clear, amber, and black. Color concentrates are available in let-down ratios from 10:1 to 40:1. Tenite™ Cellulose Acetate 105-33 is heat stabilized and has a plasticizer level of 33%.
